Sara McLaren

It's time for PurpleStride 2023!

This is my 7th year participating in PurpleStride.  I got involved for the first time in 2017, a year after losing my mom to pancreatic cancer.  At the time, the five-year survival rate was a mere 6%.  Now, just six years later, that figure has increased to 12%.  There's still a long way to go, but I'm amazed at the progress that has been made, thanks in large part to PanCAN, in such a short time.

Since that first PurpleStride, I have also lost a dear family friend to this disease.  I have also known someone who was diagnosed, treated, and has shown no signs of cancer for over two years -- striding so there will be more stories like hers in the future.

Your support will help PanCAN continue their work, so that hopefully there will be many more success stories in the years ahead.
