Wage Hope at PurpleStride. The walk to end pancreatic cancer.

Welcome to My Personal Page

In the fall of 2007 my brother William Dickinson was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Unfortunately, when it was discovered, the disease had progressed too far and he passed away a few months later.  Late in 2011, I too was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Needless to say, based on the experience of my brother, I was not optimistic.  Fortunately, my cancer was discovered early enough to permit treatment. I started 3 months of chemo in January, had surgery in May and more chemo starting in August.  In the fall of 2016, the CA19-9 level suddenly increased out of the "normal" range.  After a series of scans, a tumor was finally located in March of 2017.  I received gamma knife radiation treatments that killed the tumor and I continue to be checked every 6 months.  I am extremely blessed to have survived this long.  I want to help raise money for pancreatic cancer research so that more people will survive this terrible disease.
