Team Sawyer's PanCAN Fundraiser

Sawyer Friends and Family, 

As many of you know, in January 2018, our world changed forever when our collective hero was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Our Dad fought courageously through each of the 376 days that followed.  

It's still surreal to think that five years have passed and, in that time, Dad has missed two Sawyer weddings and the arrival of two grandsons (wow, would he have loved having more boys around).

Our family’s story is heartbreakingly common as the five-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer only recently reached double digits. PanCAN’s PurpleStride event raises money to fund life changing research initiatives and personalized, one-on-one support efforts that make it possible for families to fight.

On April 27, the Sawyers are gathering again in Charleston, Dad’s slice of heaven on earth, to do this year’s Purple Stride together.  

Last year, your generosity helped us raise over $20,000 as a team.

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
