welcome to TEAm lani

Welcome to Team Lani. Together we are a fierce group of friends, family and colleagues here to represent the strength, perseverance and heart that our beloved Lani Low-Yim embodied and exemplified through every step of her life. We strive to honor her memory and to most importantly make her proud in doing our part to contribute to the end of this horrific disease. This year the 5K WALK FOR PANCREATIC CANCER IS VIRTUALLY ON JUNE 20th.

In mid-December 2017, Lani went to see her doctor after experiencing stomach pains for 3 weeks. Upon validation of CT results, her doctor confirmed that it was Stage 4, Pancreatic Cancer and that it had metastasized to her liver and lymph nodes. She was told that she had 6 months to live. She was admitted to the hospital for pain in late December and upon the performance of an ultrasound, EKG and biopsy, her primary doctor confirmed that the diagnosis and prognosis were accurate. She was admitted for pain once again in January of this year where she received her port and first chemotherapy infusion. She was closely monitored and treated in the coming months having been in and out of the hospital for pain treatments. She fought the bravest of battles with an inner faith and peace that is nothing short of admirable. On the morning of February 26, 2018, Lani passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her incredible family at UCSF.

Lani was a beautiful person both inside and out, truly an angel that walked among us, and we know that she is watching over those she loves now with the same ardent love and faith that she displayed to all those who were privileged enough to have known her. It is for Lani – our friend, our colleague, our mother, our sister – that we walk in solidarity and in defiance of Pancreatic Cancer.

We ask that you help Team Lani Wage Hope at Purple Stride and rewrite the future of this disease. Every dollar donated ensures that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network can continue working to create better outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. By donating to our team, you are supporting vital efforts to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020.

Please join us in the fight today and in the remembrance of this beautiful soul, Lani Low-Yim.

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, at just 9%. This deadly disease has stolen our best and our brightest, but it can’t take away our determination.

I’ve stepped up to Wage Hope at PurpleStride, the walk to end pancreatic cancer. Will you help me rewrite the future of this disease by making a donation today?

Every dollar that you give ensures that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network can continue working to improve outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. By donating today, you are supporting vital efforts to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020.
