Pancreatic Cancer Has Shaped My Life in Unimaginable Ways

I’ve lost my grandmother, father, mother, and uncle to this relentless disease. Then, I faced my own battle—diagnosed with Stage 3 pancreatic cancer, I fought with everything I had, determined to beat the odds. Along the way, I’ve built deep connections with others facing the same fight, only to experience the heartbreak of losing too many friends to this disease.

Now, more than ever, fundraising is critical. The American Cancer Society reports that in 2025, an estimated 67,440 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and 51,980 will die from it. The five-year survival rate remains alarmingly low at just 13%, and to make matters worse, recent government cuts have slashed pancreatic cancer research funding by 57%—a devastating setback to progress.

This story isn’t just mine—it’s ours. Together, we can turn pain into purpose and fight for a future where pancreatic cancer no longer steals lives.

About PanCAN PurpleStride

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
