Welcome to My Personal Page In honor of my dad Ed shock 10/31/63-3/10/19

2019 was our first year participating as Team SHOCKSTRONG, in honor of my Dad, Ed Shock. We were beyond humbled by the donations and ever-growing roster of participants. As you will read below, My Dad, and we as a family, have been involved with PanCAN and the Purple Stride since 2017, with my Dad as a three-time participant throughout his fight. We are determined to continue fighting this disease and honoring my Dad in our support of PanCAN's mission.

Edward D. Shock

10/31/1963 - 3/10/2019

When my Dad became a member of a club that no one wants to join, in January 2017, we had 200 #SHOCKSTRONG wristbands made to make sure he knew he had a strong team behind him. In response, my Mom said "there aren't 200 people that like him!" Well, with the wristbands long gone, that team of 200+ has wound up more often than not looking up to him for strength.

After a successful Whipple surgery that February from his team at Johns Hopkins, along with an immunotherapy clinical trial and advanced cyber-knife radiation, THAT June my Dad was proudly wearing one of the far-too-rare white SURVIVOR shirts at the Washington, DC Purple Stride - ONE WEEK out of the hospital. Over the next two years he continued his fight as the cancer returned, trying every treatment possible including proton radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

My Dad, as a three-time Purple Stride participant, between DC and Maryland, proudly wearing his SURVIVOR gear, will continue his participation streak through us.

Throughout his battle, my Dad made no excuses and was a Purple Stride PARTICIPANT at each one he attended. If you are unable to Stride with us, we ask that you contribute towards our goal as we participate on his behalf. PanCAN is a resourceful and determined organization.

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, at just 9%. This deadly disease has stolen our best and our brightest, but it can't take away our determination.

Every dollar that you donate ensures that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network can continue working to create better outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. By donating to our team, you are supporting vital efforts to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020.
