In Feb 2019, our lives changed drastically as Rob received the news that he had pancreatic cancer.  Memories of his sister, Jenelle, and her battle with pancreatic cancer came rushing back, as Jenelle passed away 3 weeks after her diagnosis.  Our story has a happier ending and could not have been possible without the support of our family, friends, and our incredible doctors.  After diagnosis, our doctor immediately ordered genetic and biomarker testing of his tumor.  Based on the results, we found out that Rob was eligible for immunotherapy, after chemotherapy.  After several rounds of chemo, radiation and immunotherapy, Rob had a successful Whipple procedure in July 2019.   I’m thrilled to be able to say that he is 5-years cancer-free!

None of this would be possible, if not for the ongoing cancer research by doctors and scientists throughout the country.  My husband is alive due to advances made in genetic and biomarker testing, as well as advancements in the field of immunotherapy.  My mission is to help provide funding for the breakthrough research needed for pancreatic cancer, as well as continue to support the educational programs which help patients and their caregivers.

On April 27, 2024, Rob and I will be participating in PanCan’s PurpleStride event (along with volunteering as the Co-chairs). Please join me in raising money to “Wage Hope” to defeat this disease and continue to keep fighting for those battling pancreatic cancer.  You can join our team and come walk with us in Indy on April 27, or do a virtual walk wherever you are.  If you cannot join our team, please consider making a donation to one of our team members.  We need your help!  Thank you for your continued support!!

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.
