Welcome to Laura's PurpleStride Personal Fundraising Page!

In 2020, I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer.

In 2025 more than 67,000 Americans will be diagnosed with this horrible disease in the US alone.   Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all the major cancers.  It has a 5-year survival rate of just 13%, primarily because of the limitation of diagnostics to find it in the early stages of the disease. The pancreas is located deep in the abdomen, so doctors usually cannot see or feel the tumor during a physical exam. Also, pancreatic cancer symptoms are not always obvious and usually develop over time.  

PanCAN funds scientific research, educates, provides patient services, and advocates for federal funding for those affected by pancreatic cancer.  They offer free one-on-one support for patients facing this disease. As with the last 2 years, all of the PurpleStride 5K fundraising events across the country will all be held on the same day this year:  Saturday, April 26, 2025. 

I am participating in the Washington D.C event again this year, and I hope you all will join me in supporting this organization.  Please donate, participate in a local walk, and wear your purple to support in the fight!

About PanCAN PurpleStride

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
