We need your support! In Honor of my Uncle Mark and Brad's Mom

This year, I’m teaming up with my good friend Brad Hess, who I work closely with at Salesforce, to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network through PanCAN PurpleStride, and we’re doing it in honor of two incredibly special people who have lost their lives: Brad’s mom and my Uncle Mark.

Pancreatic cancer is what brought Brad and me together. We didn’t know each other well before volunteering as course moderators at the last PanCAN event, but we quickly bonded over the shared experience of losing loved ones to this disease. That day sparked a meaningful friendship rooted in a common goal — honoring their memory and continuing the fight.

My uncle, Mark Fisher, was a one-of-a-kind person. He had that rare ability to make you feel like his best friend within minutes of meeting him. Mark had a huge heart, an infectious energy, and a love for life that continues to inspire me every day. Our bond was incredibly close, and I am proud to carry forward his spirit and legacy through this effort.

Brad’s mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2018. Her five-year fight was nothing short of extraordinary. She showed up to life with strength, humor, and compassion, even on her hardest days. She passed away in September 2023, and her absence is felt every single day. Throughout her life — and even while fighting cancer — his mom was a tireless runner, completing more than 70 marathons and raising money for causes close to her heart, including the fight against pancreatic cancer. Running and giving back were two of her greatest passions. PurpleStride brings both together in a way that feels like a perfect reflection of who she was.

This fundraiser is my way of continuing their legacy. It’s a way to honor their strength,  passion, and commitment to others — and to do our part in helping advance research and support for those still fighting this terrible disease.

If helping to find a cure for this disease or our story has touched you, I’d be deeply grateful for your support. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to better treatments, earlier detection, and — one day — a cure.

Your support means the world to us — and brings us one step closer to a cure.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
