In the Fall of 2006, my Mom received the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.  We were blessed that she had spunk and fought with all she had while still graciously accepting God's will for her until she died Dec 19, 2007.  15 months of hellish treatments with some times where she felt pretty good, but I know many, many days where she put on a smile and enjoyed the life she had left despite the pain and fatigue along with everything else that goes with fighting cancer. 

Since then, we have lost a cousin in just a couple weeks from diagnosis to death, from this nasty cancer. I have also lost several others I knew from church, family of friends, etc.  Far too many loose this battle. 

My sisters have been involved in the Purple Stride for many years since we lost our Mom.  Last year was my first attempt at participating in the actual event, but I have loved working with my sisters each year to raise money via running the brat stand in our home town.  This year I plan to not only plan to walk but to also help with the brat stand again.  I'm also hoping to set up a cheesecake fundraiser to raise even more funds for the important work done through PanCan.
