Most of us will never forget the year 2020 for one reason or another.  I never expected that 2020 would be the year I would lose my mother to cancer.  After attempting to treat her "back pain" with physical therapy for 5 or 6 months, under the guidance of her doctor, my mother (Marie Cole) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March of this year.  10 weeks later, she was gone.  The first round of chemotherapy left her with a blood infection which her body never recovered from and in May, she learned that her illness had become terminal.  Because of Covid-19, she spent the last 5 weeks of her life in a hospital and a care facility with only two window visits with my father.  Luckily I was able to spend her last week with her, and my father, and she passed away as peacefully as possible on May 19th.

Pancreatic cancer took my mother's life quickly and rather quietly. Until her diagnosis, her main presenting symptom was pain in her back (the tumor growing in her pancreas).  But time spent treating the "back pain" only allowed the tumor to grow, and it didn't waste any time.  We miss my mother tremendously, as does everyone who knew her.  She was a beautiful woman who was loved by many and it is my pleasure to honor her life and her memory by fundraising for PanCAN - the Pancreatic Cancer Network - which is devoted to furthering research, education and patient/family support for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer.  Join me in helping to find a cure for one of the most deadly cancers there is... as I have learned a painfully hard way, we don't have time to lose.  Thank you for your support!
