"PanCAN grew out of desperate search for answers after three loved ones were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and their families realized that no one, not even their doctors, knew much about this difficult, and at the time, relatively unknown disease. As a result of their losses, Paula Kim, Terry Lierman and Pamela Acosta Marquardt formed the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in 1999. -- Today, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has a full staff, and a growing community of volunteers from across the country, who are committed and empowered individuals, working hard each day to change the course of history for pancreatic cancer. As the only national organization working to advance research, support patients and create hope we are grateful for the years of continued and generous support from our donors, volunteers, advocates, patients, healthcare professionals and scientists." 

PanCAN's GOAL by 2030 is to:

1) Drive 5yr survival from 10% to 20%. Thanks to PanCAN, the survival rate reached double digits in 2020 and in 2023 increased to 12%, they are working to get that to 20% by 2030 through funding scientific research, disrupting the traditional pancreatic cancer clinical trial system with new approaches, leading an early detection initiative and much more!!

2) Raise $80 Million annually. Fundraising support are critical to funding lifesaving research and keeping vital patient and caregiver programs and services operating free of charge. 

3) Grow awareness of PanCAN in the U.S. from 14% to 30%. More people need to know about pancreatic cancer - symptoms, risk factors, treatment options and how PanCAN can help patients and families at every step. We'll increase awareness through national campaigns, media coverage, strategic partnerships, events and more, and we'll continually measure our success.
