Charlie had a smile that could make anyone forget about their troubles, a laugh that was simply contagious and a love for life like no one I had ever met before.  He was the love of my life and not a day goes by that I don't miss him dearly.  


I lost Charlie in November 2020 to pancreatic cancer. 


When Charlie received his diagnosis in September 2019, it was Stage 4 and had already metastasized to the liver.  At that point in time, only 20% of pancreatic cancer patients survived one year after being diagnosed and the five-year survival rate was only 11%.  Charlie achieved the one year milestone, but lost his battle 1-1/2 months later at the age of 56.  


This will be my fourth year to participate in PanCAN’s PurpleStride, a family-friendly run/walk that funds lifechanging programs and services for pancreatic cancer patients and their families.  Our fundraising efforts are making an impact...the five-year survival rated has increased from 11% to 13% just in the last few years!


Charlie may have lost his battle to the world's toughest cancer, but we must keep fighting for more awareness, earlier detection methods, and ultimately a CURE!  Please help me change the trajectory of this disease by:

About PanCAN PurpleStride

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
