Why do I Stride?

Eight years ago, pancreatic cancer took my mom from us. To honor her, I joined PanCAN as a volunteer help to plan and supporting PurpleStrides 5k for the central Florida area. During this time, I have met a lot of great people that are just as passionate for raising awareness and money for research for pancreatic cancer. This year my girls have joined me in volunteering, with Zoey being the team captain for Donna's Gang.

This year’s 5k will take place at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando, but you can always attend virtual! This means that you do not have to live in central Florida to participate in the 5k. You can do it from any state/county and from anywhere (your local park, gym, treadmill at home, etc.). Our official race date is Saturday, April 27th, 2024 and race alongside 60 other PurpleStride events throughout the country. I invite you to come out to Lake Eola in downtown Orlando April 27th and join the Pancan family in raising money and awareness.

Every dollar we earn means more patients can benefit from PanCAN's free, one-on-one support, personalized information, services and resources that can make a real difference in their lives. PanCAN’s is a year-round national movement that funds lifechanging programs and services for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. When my mom was diagnosed there was only a 6% chance of survival. Today that is now 11%, which has almost doubled since my mom was diagnosed and the percentage continues to grow with the money raised for research.
