I am participating in PurpleStride this year as a 2-year pancreatic cancer survivor. I received a diagnosis of Stage II adenocarcinoma of the pancreas head on July 21, 2020. Before my diagnosis, I experienced some of the hallmark symptoms of pancreatic cancer; however these symptoms aligned with the after-effects of a surgery I had less than six months prior. When I developed jaundice, my doctor sent me to the hospital, where they performed a CT with contrast and discovered the issue. I underwent 12 rounds of chemotherapy and had the Whipple surgery on March 2, 2021. The surgeons were successful in removing 100% of the cancer.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
