You know the least fun fact about me: my mom is a pancreatic cancer survivor. That's one of the deadliest cancers out there (and at the time of her diagnosis, ~5% survival rate). Flash forward 9 years and she is still here, one of the very few lucky ones who survives 5 years past diagnosis––and I am eternally grateful for that. Thanks to the best doctors, a lot of good luck, and a tough-as-nails mom who somehow survived despite the odds (and a long horrible couple of years).

Because of this diagnosis and the impact it had on our family, we give back all we can to the pancreatic cancer community. My mom is the Affiliate Chair of the SF Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and my sister and I are both active participants. Thanks to PurpleStride, we help to raise thousands of dollars for pancreatic cancer research. 

My mom has an awesome team of volunteers who have been impacted in some way by pancreatic cancer, strangers that have come together and as a team we spread awareness, raise money, put on events like PurpleStride. And, thanks to my survivor mom—we wage hope!

If you are able, we'd appreciate anything you can donate. This cancer is ruthless and we need all the hope we can get (research buys hope!).

About PanCAN PurpleStride

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
