Once again, my family and I are raising money for PurpleStride, an event which is taking place this year on April 29, 2023, to support the important and valuable work that Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) has done to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer and, in particular, to promote screening and early detection.

I am a beneficiary of that advocacy.  In my case, I was very fortunate to have a doctor who, after reviewing my family's history and genetic profile, recommended that I get an abdominal MRI scan.  The scan revealed a very small tumor in the tail of my pancreas.  Thanks to the screening that led to early detection, my doctors were able to surgically remove the tumor before it could begin to spread, and I am as good as new.

For our family, participating in PurpleStride provides us with the chance to pay forward the lifesaving work carried out by PanCAN every day, so that others can get the screening they need to detect and defeat the world's deadliest major cancer.  Last year, thanks to the generosity of our friends and family, we raised nearly $80,000, and this year, our goal is to exceed $100,000.
