I’m taking steps to end pancreatic cancer at the PanCAN PurpleStride 5K on Saturday, April 27, 2024--right here in Atlanta.  You may know my story, but if not...please be encouraged!

Pancreas Cancer is called the Silent Killer.  I know this personally.   I was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreas cancer in November 2021.  Shocked and stunned, I verified it with a second opinion and then had some tough decisions to make. This disease has no screening methodologies and often no symptoms.   When it is found, there are a few FDA approved treatments which may or may not work. Survivor rates beyond 5 years are quite low.    The treatments can devastate your body while trying to provide palliative care to extend your life.  The good news?  With funded research this number has grown from 5% to 12% in a short 10-year period!!

  My decision was to GO FOR IT and pray for scientific breakthroughs in the process. Thanks to the hands of a gifted surgeon, a precision radiologist, a brilliant oncologist and THE GREAT PHYSICIAN... I am 18 months out and THRIVING, not just surviving.

 Vaccines and drugs designed to target specific genetic mutations are well underway.  PanCAN Purple Stride is the number one way PanCAN raises money to fund this vital research to bring new treatment options to patients.
