We are taking steps to end pancreatic cancer at the PanCAN PurpleStride 5K on Saturday, April 27, 2024--right here in Atlanta.  You may know Maryanne's story, but if not...please be encouraged!

Pancreas Cancer is called the Silent Killer.  Its personal for Maryanne.  She was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreas cancer in November 2021. She wasn't sick, had no chronic concerns, life was normal!  Until it wasn't.   This disease has no screening methodologies and often no symptoms.   Survival rates beyond 5 years are quite low. The treatments can devastate your body while trying to provide palliative care to extend your life.  What do you choose?   Maryanne chose to fight.  The good news?  With funded research the 5 year survival rate has grown from 5% to 12% in a short 10-year period!!

 " My decision was to GO FOR IT and pray for scientific breakthroughs in the process. Thanks to the hands of a gifted surgeon, a precision radiologist, a compassionate oncologist and The GREAT physician...(if you don't know the Great Physician, let me make that connection!)  I am 29 months out from diagnosis and living my life as full as I possibly can.   I am not cured, and I know that this defiant disease is circulating in my system.   But I also know scientific breakthroughs are coming!"   

There are now 3 FDA approved palliative treatments.   In 2021, there were only 2!   Vaccines and drugs designed to target specific genetic mutations, as well as potential immunotherapies, are well underway.  These inroads cannot continue without funded research.    PANCAN PURPLE STRIDE funds this vital research to bring screening methodologies, treatments, and awareness to the forefront.
