STRIDERS FOR MORE THRIVERS!

I was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic cancer on November 11, 2021.  Many diagnosed after I was, are not here.  Thousands diagnosed before I was, are not here.  This cancer is often undetectable until it has spread significantly.  Its called the Silent Killer.

There are essentially two FDA approved chemotherapies.  

 

After exhausting both chemotherapies and three surgeries, I was grateful to be accepted into a Phase 1 clinical trial for an innovative approach to treating cancer   Once my body becomes resistant to this one, what will be next?

Just now, physicians do not have an answer for me. 

Some days I wake up scared, but most days I choose joy!  I am not cured, and I know that this defiant disease is circulating in my system.  But, I choose to live hopeful because scientific breakthroughs are coming.    And I love life!  My family, my friends, my work!

 Research is underway for immunotherapy and other therapies which will broaden the options available today.  This work is expensive.  And can take years of work from dedicated and passionate physicians and scientists.  

Time is of the essence - for me and many others.  This diagnosis is happening in the lives of 30 and 40 year olds now.  Pancreas Cancer is projected to be the 2nd most lethal cancer in 2025.  Yet, there remains no screening test for this killer.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.
