A Success Story!

I have known I was a BRCA2 carrier for over 23 years.  I have been monitored as part of preventative care for over 23 years, I have been part of countless studies for over 23 years.

In February of 2022 I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  The 1.5cm tumor was discovered as part of my preventative screening because of this gene and because of my mother passing from pancreatic cancer, because of this gene.  The doctors sprang immediately into action before I even knew what was happening.  Like the professionals they are, they were ready even if i was not. I had my pancrectomy and splenectomy as quickly as possible and started Chemo in March.  I was able to finish that journey in time for my 60th birthday in October 2022 with the support of the medical staff and many friends and family.  It truly takes a village!

Today, I am cancer free due to the fact that I was diagnosed early and could take action immediately.  My prognosis is great because of the research and work these programs do and I for one am very grateful for all the support they have given me and my family.

Please consider joining our team for this walk on April 29th.  And if you can’t join, please consider a donation.
