I was diagnosed with Stage 3 locally advanced non-resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma on August 26, 2022. I had no pre-existing conditions, no family history, and no risk factors. After months of chemo, radiation, seeking second opinions and fighting my insurance company, I had surgery on July 24, 2023 with Dr Mark Truty at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Only 10-15% of PC patients make it to surgery, and even after successful surgery with curative intent, recurrence rates are as high as 80%. And even more terrifying...PC has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers with current 5-year survival rate of 13%. We need better testing for early diagnosis and more research into effective treatment options.

I’m taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.
