Thank you for supporting my PanCAN PurpleStride fundraiser!

I want to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and I need you to do it!

I’m taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.

Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death, and the five year survival rate has only just increased this year to 13%, the lowest of all major cancers.  With no early detection, most patients are diagnosed too late for surgery (85% or more) due to metastasis to other organs.

MY WHY:

I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on August 16, 2023.  Hearing the diagnosis was devastating, but hearing the prognosis was even more shocking, and I was immediately overcome with hopelessness.  In this day and time of medical advances, how could pancreatic cancer fall so far behind other cancers?  I NEVER want ANYONE to feel that hopelessness that engulfed me that day!

Since then I have learned a lot about pancreatic cancer and have been in treatment, and am presently feeling very good.   There is hope, and we are on the brink of great advances in a possible screening and research and treatment advances.  

Now is the time to fuel the momentum and finally make a difference in outcomes for  pancreatic cancer patients like me!
