Hi my name is Lora!

     I am the sister of a Pancreatic Cancer Survivor, my sisters name is Karen. Back on March 2, 2022 my sister went to the hospital thinking that something was wrong with her gallbladder and after tests being ran they told her that they thought she had cancer, the next day March 4, 2022 they did a biopsy and confirmed that she did have Pancreatic Cancer. When my sister/best friend called me to tell me what was going on it completely devastated me, like I said she is not only my sister but my best friend also! We are so close that I just couldn't believe that this was happening to her. She is such an AMAZING sister/mom/wife/grandmother/ & friend that I didn't know why this had to be happening to her. All I could do was sit there and cry non-stop and wish that I could take all of this away from her and let it be me instead of her. My sister means the world to me and I would do anything and everything for her no matter what. I couldn't then and still to this day imagine my life without her in it. She went through chemo (horrible stuff) but very necessary and it did what it was suppose to do to help her get ready for what is called a Whipple Surgery (the doctor referred to it as I'm going to rearrange your kitchen by moving this here and that there) I thought that was a strange way of describing such a major surgery she was going to do, but as she drew everything on a piece of paper it all made sense to both of us. This surgery then took place on 7/18/2022 and I remember this date well because it was the day after my birthday and the one and only wish I had for my birthday was "to please let my sister make it through this surgery and with no complications" and my wish came true and I am BEYOND grateful. Then on 9/02/2022 my sister got the most AMAZING news ever and that news was that she was "Cancer Free". She has went in every 6 months since then to make sure that the cancer hasn't came back and to this day she is still Cancer Free!!
