For those of you that don't know, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April of 2023. That was some crazy stuff. I have had a year from hell, and I've come out the other side, but I am one of the lucky ones. After surgery and chemotherapy, I am NED (no evidence of disease). I have always said, I'm not wearing the t-shirt or the ribbon, and certainly not going to be a part of the "cancer tribe". Then something happened, my friend told me that breast cancer had a high survival rate, due to the amount of research on it (not to downplay breast cancer in any capacity). This is not the case with pancreatic cancer, as most of us are goners before proper research can be done. At this time, there is a 12% survival rate for those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, up five percent from ten years ago. Thats just insane, and im so glad I didn't know these statistics while I was diagnosed.
So of course I did it. I signed up for a two mile charity walk for research. I have never done anything like this before, and could use a good support system.
