My precious Brother's personal story.....

"Friends,

Recently the world learned about the Princess of Wales’s cancer diagnosis. Her public announcement to encourage cancer awareness encouraged me to share my own personal cancer journey. It’s been almost 2 years since my diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in July 2022. I’ve kept this information private with a few exceptions, and now feel compelled to share and ask for your help and support.

My journey has included 2 rounds of chemotherapy, a Whipple surgery to remove my initial tumor, and in the upcoming weeks radiation treatment. Cancer has changed my life for sure by challenging my priorities, changing the course of my career, and teaching me to appreciate the many blessings God has given me. We will likely not ever know for sure, but I’m confident my many years of obesity caused my cancer. I definitely know once I had my initial pre-diabetes diagnosis I should have started regular cancer screening. I am confident it could have been detected earlier. Today, I have multiple tumors in my liver and my cancer is stage IV. That said, God continues to bless me. I have a lot of healthy days to spend with my family and friends. I have the best and most awesome team of medical professionals at Mayo in Jacksonville. I have been blessed with an amazing employer, VSP Vision, who has been supportive every step of the way.

MY ASK… on April 27, 2024, I’m participating in a walk for pancreatic cancer, PanCan, to help others with early diagnosis, treatment, and possible prevention. I need your financial support and prayers to enable us to make a difference in fighting this terrible disease. This event takes place all over the country, including Sacramento and Jacksonville, so please walk for me! If you’re in JAX please join me in person. I know you’ve worked hard for your treasures, so I appreciate your consideration to share a little with this wonderful organization. It is with your help we will make a difference.
