Not many people know what’s going on with me but I feel I’m finally ready to share. At the beginning of the year I was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. The type of tumor I have is called Neuroendocrine, less than 1% of people get this type of cancer. Lucky me! The good news is it’s slow growing and has not spread to other organs! My surgery is scheduled on March 17th for removal of 20% of my pancreas and all of my spleen. My doctor is confident that I will make a full recovery! I know this won’t be easy but I am thankful for my amazing support system. 

Another reason Pancreatic Cancer hit home with me is a few years ago in 2021 I lost my father in law Bill to Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.  Bill and I used to say we were ”Drinking Buddies”, which made no sense because I could only ever drink one than I was done.  Bill liked making fruity drinks like Washington Apples for me, but really I think he just wanted an excuse to drink them himself. Lol

I am not looking for sympathy but rather I just want my truth to be out there so I can continue to move forward. I want to be able to live my truth without hiding what I’m going through. I am hopeful that I will beat this but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. I am terrified but I’m am just trusting the process and taking it one day at a time.

One of my awesome friends found this amazing fundraiser, when she showed us we knew we had to do it, we want to help make a difference for people like me, or people such as my support group, who are going through this. Know we are not alone, and there are amazing programs that are here for support. If you want to join our team, or just donate, anything helps.
