Come and Join us on a walk to END pancreatic cancer!
Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of ALL major cancers, at just 9%. Unfortunately, this cancer has hit us close to home--Maritza's brother in law, Jose, lost the battle against pancreatic cancer in 2009. Maritza was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2014. Maritza sadly passed on July of 2019.
At the time of Maritza's diagnosis, her prognosis was 5% of patient's were alive at 5 years. She left us on the 5th year.
Despite surgical intervention, radiation and chemo off and on for the past 5 years, Maritza battled her cancer till the end. There is a definite need for improved treatments and ultimately a CURE for pancreatic cancer.
Maritza was a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, wife and a well-loved doctor in her community. Her warmth and love will never be forgotten.
Our team, JOMA, which is the name of Jose and Maritza together, is back this year to Wage Hope at PurpleStride, the walk to end pancreatic cancer. We were hoping that you could either make a donation or join our team or BOTH!
Every dollar that you donate ensures that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network can continue working to find a cure for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. By donating to our team, you are supporting vital efforts to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020.
