Wage Hope at PurpleStride. The walk to end pancreatic cancer.
Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
My sweet mom passed away on February 28, 2018. She was diagnosed with stage 1 pancreatic cancer in August of 2016. She was a candidate for surgery. She went through months of chemo before she had surgery in the Spring of 2017. Her surgery was successful with a few complications. When that was done she was on the mend and enjoyed life through the Fall and holiday season. The cancer came back and it came back fast and ugly. We were told that she had 6 months. That was the most devistating thing to hear. She only lasted 3 weeks. My mom was so strong and brave but it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to witness. Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, at just 9%. This deadly disease has stolen our best and our brightest, but it can’t take away our determination.
