Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
Join us in our efforts to support PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK! This team was created in LOVING MEMORY OF OUR MAMA, MERLE COTTON SCHULTZ, and OUR UNCLE BERT COTTON SR.
It was 39 years ago when our sweet, beloved Uncle Bert was diagnosed and passed away from pancreatic cancer at the young age of 49 ( he had just turned 49 the month before). This dreadful, silent disease is still as threatening today as it was in 1977. After his diagnosis, we were just told there was no cure but had chemo threatments that debilated his existence.
Then flash forward 30 years and our precious mama, Merle, was diagnosed with the same treadful disease but now she had a fighting chance of longer survival because she was a candidate for the whipple procedure. 39 years ago they couldn't even offer this to my uncle...so yes, we have seen progress but there is so much more that needs to be done. Yes, this prolonged her life 18 months and long enough that she could see her granddaughter,Michele, marry, but not a cure.
We must continue to fight for a cure so that when our loved ones are diagnosed with "pancreatic" cancer they will know that it is not a "death sentence." There have been many strides in this direction and we know many more survivors today than even last year. But we have a long way to go.
Thank you so much for supporting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Your efforts will help advance research, support patients and create HOPE!!
THANKS AGAIN AND MUCH LOVE,
MAUREEN & RHONDA
