Welcome to our team fundraising page!

Over the summer of 2017, Lonnie began having pain in her leg. The pain progressed to a point that she was unable to walk up and down the stairs and move comfortably throughout her home. When she finally visited the hospital in September, Pancreatic Cancer and a blood clot were found. The prognosis quickly became more grim. Lonnie took her final breath, surrounded by her family, early on the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving 2017. Unfortunately, she was not one of the 7% to survive this awful disease. Lonnie left behind 7 children (the youngest of whom was only 8), 2 grandchildren and another grandchild that was soon to be born. She was preceded in death by 1 child. The most important thing to Lonnie was her family. She was a mother to all and thoroughly loved being grandma. The name "Lonnie's 8" comes from the 8 children she had: T.J., Elizabeth, Jessica, Lucas, Melissa, Seth, Samuel, and Gabe.

In just the few short years since Lonnie has passed, the survival rate has increased from 7% to 9%. Researchers continue to work toward finding Pancreatic Cancer earlier and treatments. It is so vital to support efforts, such as PurpleStride, to continue the fight against Pancreatic Cancer.

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, at just 9%. This deadly disease has stolen our best and our brightest, but it can’t take away our determination.

Our team has stepped up to Wage Hope at PurpleStride, the walk to end pancreatic cancer. Will you help us rewrite the future of this disease by making a donation today?

Every dollar that you donate ensures that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network can continue working to create better outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. By donating to our team, you are supporting vital efforts to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020.

Purple ribbons aren’t enough. Please join us in the fight today.
