Raised: $10,630

Goal: $8,750

Welcome to our team fundraising page!

2019 was our first year participating as Team SHOCKSTRONG, in honor of Ed Shock. We were beyond humbled by the donations and ever-growing roster of participants. As you will read below, Ed, and we as a family, have been involved with PANCAN and the Purple Stride since 2017, with Ed as a three-time participant throughout his fight - including having worn the coveted SURVIVOR shirts. Now, more than ever, we are determined to continue fighting this disease and honoring Ed in our support of PANCAN's mission.

Our 2020 campaign was certainly different without having the in-person stride, but we nonetheless held our inaugural Ed Shock Get Off Your Wallet for Pancreatic Cancer Golf Tournament. We successfully raised, and donated to our 2021 team page $5,408! Our total for 2021 was $6,236.

You will see our goal is $7,267; that reflects our 2021 total plus $1,031 for Ed's birthday of 10/31. We look forward to updating this page with our donation from the 2021 2nd Annual Tournament.

*UPDATE* While our 2nd tournament was a two-time rainout, Team SHOCKSTRONG still delivered! Over $6,000 to the 2022 team donations!

Edward D. Shock

10/31/1963 - 3/10/2019

When Ed became a member of a club that no one wants to join, in January 2017, we had 200 #SHOCKSTRONG wristbands made to make sure he knew he had a strong team behind him. In response, his wife Therese said "there aren't 200 people that like him!" Well, with the wristbands long gone, that team of 200 continues to channel Ed for strength and inspiration.

After a successful Whipple surgery that February from his team at Johns Hopkins, along with an immunotherapy clinical trial and advanced cyber-knife radiation, THAT June Ed was proudly wearing one of the far-too-rare white SURVIVOR shirts at the Washington, DC Purple Stride - ONE WEEK out of the hospital. Over the next two years he continued his fight as the cancer returned, trying every treatment possible including proton radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Ed was a three-time Purple Stride participant, between DC and Maryland, proudly wearing his SURVIVOR gear at each race.

Throughout his battle, Ed made no excuses and was a Purple Stride PARTICIPANT at each one he attended. If you are unable to Stride with us, we ask that you contribute towards our goal as we participate on Ed's behalf. PANCAN is a resourceful and determined organization. Please read their message below. As an organization, PANCAN has a 4-Star (out of 4) rating from Charity Navigator; the dollars go to the mission.
