Welcome to our team fundraising page!

If you know my mom, Lori, you know her bravery is unmatched. you know her impeccable ability to remember anyone from any point of her life. You know her kindness, compassion and sense of humor are unparalleled. You know she loves to twirl her hair in between her fingers, and finds the most undeniable love and pride for her children and grandchild. You know her love for a good dirty martini, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and a good jam session while she gets ready in the morning.

I will never forget the Monday before Thanksgiving, driving to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey for her first oncology consultation appointment. At this point we knew it was cancer-  but mom's only symptom was a stomachache- so we were unsure what kind of beast we were dealing with. Driving up to New Brunswick we played Uncle Kraker's "Fish In the Sea" and sang at the top of our lungs- we were having her favorite type of fun.

Walking into CINJ was so powerful. Patients of all ages radiated strength and courage throughout the entire building. Dr. Kennedy gave mom a last minute appointment that Monday night- so we knew we would be in a waiting room for quite a while. That two hour wait was one i'll never forget. We were called back into Dr. Kennedy's office when we were told this cancer is "inoperable, and aggressive." After three boxes of tissues, and more hugs then I can count, my mom asked about her prognosis. Dr. Kennedy told my mom that without treatment she had a few weeks left to live. This was not an option. My mom introduced herself as BAB (a nickname I had created for her so long ago) BAB means Badass Betch- she told Dr.Kennedy she needed more time with her family, and she was going to fight this thing like the BAB she is.

In true BAB fashion, my mom danced and danced and danced the morning of Thanksgiving. She was gearing up for the fight of her life, with such grace and dignity. Mom's fight has not been easy- she is truly the strongest woman we know and we are so thankful she is ours <3
