Welcome to our team fundraising page!

We are TEAM Gabany's Guardian Angels

We are walking and raising funds to help defeat this terrible cancer and to help those that are fighting along with their family, friends, and medical teams who battle with them.

I am a SURVIVOR. I fight for those who have lost their battle and those still fighting.

I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 2 years ago. I got lucky. I had an early sign. I lost my appetite and then a week later I turned jaundice. It was a difficult time because I was losing weight (a pound a day) and itching from the jaundice which caused me to only sleep one hour a night. Even thou these symptoms were horrible, I believe it was divine intervention and I received a blessing from above bestowed upon me by my guardian angels, my mom and my dad (hence the name of our team). Another prayer was answered when the doctor who performed my endoscopy to biopsy my tumor recommended the most incredible surgeon who performed my Whipple surgery. I made it through chemo treatments and Whipple surgery with the help of a wonderful medical team and with the undying support and love of family and friends. Through a positive attitude (I was never given an expiration date) and many prayers, I am CANCER FREE at this time. I praise God every day for the opportunity to pay this gift of life forward.

I walk to honor my mom, Delores Gabany, my wife's grandfather Dale Dunn, my friend Charlie Carl, my friend’s father David Rauch, all of whom lost their battle with pancreatic cancer along with my friend, George Murphy who just recently finished his chemotherapy treatments after he made it through Whipple surgery.

This journey has strengthened my faith and brought me closer to God. The ordeal has given me a new purpose with the additional life granted to me, to help others that are battling this terrible disease. If only to inspire, give hope, and comfort those battling as they navigate through the process.

Pancreatic cancer IS ONE OF THE MOST DEADLY OF ALL TYPES OF CANCER. My mom passed away only one month after being diagnosed. I went through the whole process of dealing with a pancreatic cancer diagnosis with her and our family 15 years before my diagnosis and knew the grim reality about the survivability of this disease. We, the lucky few, need to answer the question of “why did I survive and those more deserving not”. I never questioned the reason why I was afflicted with this cancer, but I search for the reason I was spared.  I aspire to earn this life that was granted to me by the gift from my guardian angels and God.

Pancreatic cancer does not stop or slow down, and NEITHER DO WE!
