Greetings All!

Let me take a moment to share our story and why we are walking.....

July 5, 2022, my world stopped.  My (Melissa's) mother, Wendy,  was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer after a 3 month long bout of misdiagnoses and treatments.  She passed on November 2, 2022. During those 3-4 months we had left, I worked in tandem with my aunt and her husband to care for her.  I witnessed first hand how this terrible disease takes the life away of your loved one-the pain, not being able to eat, weight loss, etc.  It was the most traumatic experience I have ever gone through to see my mother fade away as she did.  

In 2017, my dear friend, Lindsay's mother (Linda Laine Hauck) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Her family worked tirelessly to find the best treatment and providers possible.  Linda passed away in February 2018.  Lindsay and her family endured the same--witnessing the life being taken away from the person you love in the most terrible of ways. 

We decided that if we could do something--anything--that could help bring about awareness, advocacy, change, we were going to do it. Anything so that others who may have this diagnosis or who know someone with it, would have a better opportunity or outcome.  Thus team "Walking Down Wendy Laine" was born.  We are so happy to include others on the team or in support of the team as we embark on this journey to help others and continue on the legacy of our mothers.  

Our team is taking steps to end pancreatic cancer at PanCAN PurpleStride on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

PanCAN raises money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients, and gives them free, personalized one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services.
