Mary’s Hope is for better treatments and ultimately a cure for pancreatic cancer.  We are incredibly grateful for every new day with our amazing mom, sito (grandma) and hero.  Mary Tahan is a pancreatic cancer 5 year survivor. We thank God for blessing us every single day.  She was diagnosed with acinar cell carcinoma in the late spring of 2017.  Since her diagnosis, she has been nothing short of inspiring.  She is an amazing role model of hope, faith, strength and perseverance.  She certainly has been through some tough battles, but none of that can take away the amazing memories we have been blessed with along her journey!! 

Today and every day, we are grateful for her strength and spirit- and of course for her surgeon, her medical oncologist, cardiologist, primary care doctor, her loving nurses and medical staff who have all taken such wonderful care of her. We are ever so grateful for every scientist who is out there working tirelessly to give more hope and better treatments for this disease, and for organizations like PanCan who help support these efforts and guide patients through this overwhelming diagnosis.  Thanks to everyone for helping give real hope to so many who go through the life changing diagnosis that our family experienced in 2017.  

We don’t take one day for granted, because we know how ruthless this disease can be.  We want to stride in honor of our mother Mary Tahan who continues to be our hero. We also want to fight in memory of those who we have lost and who are so sorely missed.  We have personally lost too many to this disease- and we want to help in this fight in loving memory of our Dear Aunt Marie (Farraye), our neighbor and  friend Jean Czerniecki, our family friend Gregory Berezovsky and our cherished childhood friend Susan (Ersalesi) Mautone- lost much too suddenly and much too soon.  Each of them hold a special place in our hearts and their memories will be in our hearts and minds forever.

We cannot sit and wait for things to get better.  We need to do our part to help improve early diagnosis and treatment for this ugly disease.  Pancreatic cancer does not stop or slow down, and neither do we!  We are Sito Strong!!!!
