Our team, Joanna's Wooden Spoons, is raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network by participating in PurpleStride on Saturday, April 29, 2023. 

Joanne Calvarese (aka Joanna) was a dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.  She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2014 and was a true warrior against this dreadful disease. She fought like a champ every day for almost five years before losing her battle in March, 2019.

Regardless of how sick she was feeling, when it was time to head to Philly for the PurpleStride event, she would bundle up (as these events used to be held in the cold month of November) and hop in the car.  She was so thrilled to hang out in the VIP tent with her fellow survivors. The day is not quite the same without her there with us, but we will continue to walk in her memory.

Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States.  By making a donation to our team, you are supporting efforts to double the survival rate for this deadly disease in the next couple of years. We want to see that VIP tent overflowing with survivors in 2023!
