Hello friends and family,
For many people, pancreatic cancer is just something you read about. Until one day somebody you love is diagnosed with it and everything changes. We’d never even heard of PanCAN Purple Stride, 60 national events that take place annually on the same day and now here we are forming a walk team (because we have to do something and honestly, we don’t know what else to do). But we do know that we really need your help, and it’s extremely uncomfortable asking.
The main reason for PanCAN Purple Stride is to raise funds to end pancreatic cancer through groundbreaking research (bringing new treatment to patients) and for support programs for patients, families and caregivers. Last year more than 56,00 participants raised $15.8 million. This year we’ll be walking in the Boston event Saturday, April 29.
There’s a few ways you can support us:
We’ve set an ambitious team goal of raising $1000, which is kind of outrageous, but rest assured, we’re not asking for large donations. If 75 kind souls each give $10-15 we’ll easily reach $1000. If anyone is feeling particularly generous, PanCAN will send a PurpleStride 2023 t-shirt if you donate $50 or more to our team. We’re also inviting you to join our team as a walker. If you don't live in the area, we can happily accommodate a few of you if there’s an interest. And if you’re unable to donate or walk, that's okay. When you wake up tomorrow morning just be thankful, life moves fast and it’s so easy to take it all for granted.
Thanks for helping in any way that you’re comfortable. Go Team Dean!
