It's been 11 years since we lost my beloved husband, friend, uncle, brother, colleague, running buddy Joel Sachs to pancreatic cancer at age 65.. He's missed the marriage of his youngest daughter Anna and the birth of his grandchildren, who will never know the humor and compassion of their grandfather,
At the time of Joel's illness, there were very few treatment options. Today because of the work of PANCAN, there are new regulations about cancer research to help fund research for the recalcitrant cancers and so many more treatment options. When Joel was sick, only 6% of patients survived beyond 5 years; now that is 10%.
Scientists need to have their funding replenished every year to find a method for early detection and treatments, and new patients need support so they can can benefit from PanCAN’s free, one-on-one support, personalized information, service and resources that can make a real difference in their lives.
I invite you to join me for a 3 mile walk at beautiful Carson Beach Harbor Walk on April 29, 2023 or if you can't come, consider a donation of $18.00 or a multiple of 18). 18 in Hebrew is Chai. which means To Life (L'Chaim). (Of course smaller and even larger donations are accepted).
Joel lived longer than his prognosis with as good a life as possible in his final year because we had so much love and support from our family, friends and colleagues.. Let's give other families as much time as possible with their loved ones.
Thank you for your support.
