Hey there - 

As many of you know, my father (George, Smitty, Bum, "Charlie"... whatever name he goes by to you!) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September of 2022. We are forever grateful that he was able to receive this diagnosis when his cancer was stage one - which we realize was nothing short of a miracle. He started chemotherapy, and though that was helpful, we were told a few months later that he was not a good candidate for surgery. A few weeks later, his oncologist felt that the chemotherapy was taking a larger toll than it was doing good, so they planned to stop chemo early. He had a repeat scan in early February 2023 and by the grace of God and a true miracle - his cancer was gone. We feel so abundantly thankful for the community and support that we as a family have received in the last 6 months, and are excited to participate in this walk to raise money for PanCAN to help support other families who are fighting this miserable fight. Though this is long from over, there is optimism right now, and we are so thankful for those who've gone before us to help pave the way and develop new treatments to give families a restored hope in the face of this horrific disease. My team and I are taking steps to end pancreatic cancer at PanCAN PurpleStride on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
