As I write this, it is now been 6 years, 2 months, and 8 days since we lost Mark to Pancreatic Cancer.  Mark was so incredibly brave facing this disease and managed to maintain his sense of humor throughout.  His love for his family and friends (and all things comic-book-related) kept his spirit strong. I try to honor his spirit, his bravery, and his sense of humor each day.  Being a part of the PanCan community and participating in Purple Stride each year (year 6 for Team Captain Underpants) brings hope to what often feels like a hopeless situation. 

The 5-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer just increased a percentage point to 13%. A small gain, but a gain nonetheless. When Mark was diagnosed, the survival rate was less than 5%. Early detection is key. Education is key. Awareness is key. All this takes funds to support research, treatment, and programs that directly affect patients and their families.
