I still remember the day my dad told me that he had cancer. I immediately responded with “what kind?!” His response knocked the wind out of me because it was Pancreatic Cancer. At the time I did not know much about Pancreatic Cancer however I did know one thing that the survival rate was very low. My dad reassured me that everything is going to be fine. He fought very hard and I think he lived as long as he did because he was stubborn and strong.

My dad loved being active with his kids throughout his life. When we were little, he would take us on ten-mile bike rides on the Palm Beach Lake Trail and I would cry because I thought it was too long. Looking back I laugh and cherish those times with my dad. In the last few years of my dad’s life even with stage 4 cancer he would go on these crazy long hikes with my brother and his family. He immensely enjoyed being outdoors and being active.
