Welcome to our team fundraising page!

My sister, Becca Chambers, and I formed Sue and Peter's Striders in the Spring of 2015, shortly after the death of our dear friend Peter Kasenchak and just months after our mother's diagnosis with Stage 3 pancreatic cancer. At the time, the 5-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer was only 7%, and we walked in our first San Francisco PurpleStride in 2015 in memory of Peter and in honor of our mom. Nine years later, and against all odds, our mom is still with us, and the memory of Peter is as strong as ever. We walk for them, and for everyone affected by this deadly disease.

In the 9 years since we participated in our first PurpleStride, the 5-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer has increased to 13%, and it is PanCAN's goal to raise it 20% by 2030.  Even with this progress, and despite being relatively rare, pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, killing more people each year than even breast cancer.  By donating to our team, you are supporting PanCAN's efforts to continue to fight this deadly disease on all fronts, while providing free, one-on-one support to pancreatic cancer patients and their loved ones.  Please donate today to help us continue to Wage Hope. Thank you!
