Clay’s Army!

Our team wants to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and we need you to do it!

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

My father, Clay Johansson, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer stage 3 (inoperable) in the beginning of March 2023. He endured 6 tortuous rounds of chemotherapy that left him frail, sick, exhausted, and always in so much pain. My dad fought so hard and our family prayed without ceasing, but ultimately God’s plans were to bring daddy home to Heaven on June 24th, 2023.

 My dad started having “symptoms” in December 2022, went on a amazing road bike trip (Fuller Center) from Sarasota, FL to the tip of Key West in Jan 2023 (still having symptoms). He went to 5 Emergency Rooms, had countless CT scans / Ultrasounds, followed up with a GI specialist who did an endoscopy and colonoscopy and NO ONE could diagnose my dad until the 5th visit to the ER at the end of February 2023. My dad suffered horrendous pain, unimaginable pain because pancreatic cancer is SO hard to find and usually only found when it is too late. I don’t want others to have to suffer like my daddy did. 

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
