Things are forever changed since my husband, Jim, participated in his last Purple Stride Walk on November 7th, 2020!  I still find it hard to put into words what the next 25 days were like for Jim and the rest of our family.  He put up an incredible fight right up until the end.  His AMAZING positive attitude and outlook on life will live forever in our hearts.  On my darkest days, I am reminded of his message to me that "Every day is a new beginning, take a deep breath, smile and start again!" I have that reminder he made for me hanging in our home. Pancreatic Cancer did not defy Jim and he NEVER let it defeat him! 

As Jim continued his battle, he felt compelled to learn more about the disease and to raise awareness and funds for research. For everyone who knew him, helping others had always been one of his core values and Aidan, Kennedy, and I continue to help others who are impacted by this awful disease. That's why I'm walking! That's why, Greene is the New Purple, will be represented again at this years' Purple Stride Walk in San Antonio on April 29th. This is the 15th Annual Walk in San Antonio and our 5th walk as a family! 

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers. For all stages combined, the 5 year relative survival rate has increased to 12% this year.  When Jim posted this message for his last walk that was held, the percentage rate was only 10%.  Progress has been made and needs to continue to be made!  This deadly disease has stolen our BEST and our brightest, but it can’t take away our determination to continue to move forward.
