This was the message from Mike last year. As you know, he passed away on 8/1/22 from pancreatic cancer. He provided hope for so many as they learned to survive through the diagnosis and treatment. 

Mike was a miracle. Like many other pancreatic cancer patients, the cancer eventually took over. Don't let cancer win this fight! Fight for Mike and other survivors!

Hi Everyone! 

I am Mike Hoyt.  I have Pancreatic Cancer.  The diagnosis nine years ago was a complete surprise to me and my family as my family has no known history of pancreatic cancer.  Pancreatic cancer is a lifetime curse I and fellow patients have to live with.  At this point, I expect to be getting chemo the rest of my life to control the cancer.  For most of us, that lifetime is all too short.  I have been fortunate to be around for nine years.  Since I was initially diagnosed as Stage 4, I had less than a 10% chance of surviving 5 years.  That survival record has improved some but not enough.  Fortunately, I am still around and have no detectible cancer due to a treatment protocol just developed prior to my treatment through cancer research.  The downside is my cancer markers rose to its highest level ever, so I sought an alternative.  I tried one treatment and was unsuccessful.  I switched to another treatment and my markers have started down

As you can see, the outlook for pancreatic cancer patients is bleak.  Currently, there are many potential treatments for pancreatic cancer that are being studied or could be studied if funded.  Pancreatic cancer research is needed to find a cure to this dreaded disease.
