Welcome to our team fundraising page!

We are walking to honor of one of our favorite people, Steve Kennedy, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August of 2022. He passed away 10 short months later, and we all miss him so very much.

Pancreatic cancer is a formidable foe and is generally diagnosed in late stages.

PanCAN PurpleStride is the number one way PanCAN raises money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients, and gives them free, personalized one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services (see more info on PanCan below).

Although the walk is free, we are seeking donations of any size to get us to our rather ambitious fundraising goal. Last year, our team was the number 1 fundraising team at the Puget Sound Purple Stride, raising over $30,000. Steve even made it to the event after being released from the hospital less than 24 hours before and he arrived to the event with the biggest smile on his face. He felt so loved and supported.

If you can’t do the walk and want to support our cause with a donation, that is easy too! Just click the DONATE button at the top or bottom of this page.

OUR TEAM:

We set a very ambitious fundraising goal, because anyone who knows the Kennedy Clan knows that we are VERY competitive. But Steve was not always that way (or maybe he was just lazy)!

When Steve was in grade school, he brought home a report card with all As except for B- in “Effort.” To put it mildly, that did not go over well. His dad sat him down and said, “We are NOT a B- family.” He probably had other words but those were lost to time. (His mom probably comforted Steve because he was her "most beautiful baby" and one of her favorites.)

We want to ensure that STEVE STRONG gets an A in “Effort” to make it the top fundraising team in Puget Sound. Why? Because “We are NOT a B- Team!”

ABOUT PANCAN (PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK)

PanCan's rating by Charity Navigator is 4 Star (96%).

Here is their description from the Charity Navigator Site:

PanCAN's mission is to take bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer by advancing scientific research, building community, sharing knowledge, and advocating for patients. PanCAN was the first organization dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer in a comprehensive way, and for more than two decades, we've grown a nationwide movement tackling the disease from all angles.

We fund transformative research, everything from early detection to innovative new treatment approaches. PanCAN Patient Services provides free, personal one-to-one support and we can find resources for any questions you have related to pancreatic cancer, like finding a specialist or a clinical trial. We work with thousands of grassroots advocates to urge Congress to increase federal research funding for pancreatic cancer, and we get results. We build community. Be part of our movement! You can volunteer locally, participate in a PurpleStride community event or host your own fundraiser.
