TEAM RUDY is back to join the fight against pancreatic cancer, and here's why:
Pancreatic cancer changed us forever. On August 14, 2014, it claimed the life of our beloved family patriarch and legendary coach, Glenn Smith Rudacille Sr. “Rudy” left behind his wife of 58+ years, five children, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and an endless number of students and athletes whose lives he positively influenced during his distinguished 55-year coaching and 36-year teaching career.
Rudy’s journey began the day before Thanksgiving in 2012 when he was unexpectedly sent to his family physician because of jaundice in his eyes. Shortly thereafter he received the grim diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He was a rare candidate for the Whipple procedure. Although this complex surgery and other treatments didn’t cure his cancer, they gave us 21 additional months with him and allowed us one more family beach vacation and numerous memorable holiday and family celebrations.
Pancreatic cancer does not stop or slow down, and neither will we! That’s why we’re so excited to participate once again in PanCAN's PurpleStride Richmond walk on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville. This event is a year-round national movement that funds lifechanging programs and services for pancreatic cancer patients and their families.
We'd love for you to join our team as a participant or donate to this worthy cause with a gift of any size to help us meet our fundraising goal and ultimately improve more patients’ lives! You can donate to a team member or make a general donation to the team.
Let's take steps together to end pancreatic cancer!
Thanks so much for your support!
