We will be walking to support two special women in our lives whom our family has recently lost. Mariana Rafael, a mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt lost her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer after 5 short months in December 2023. Carol Cruz Nelson, a devoted teacher, sister, aunt, and friend too so many lost her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer in October 2023. 

Carol had a magical way of bringing joy every time she walked into a room. Each person she touched in her life will not forget her smile, kindness and of course her style. Mariana's greatest source of happiness was to be surrounded by her family. They became her purpose in life and her whole world and her eyes would light up each time she saw them. Anyone who knew Mariana, knew the depths of her love for her family was immeasurable.

It is our turn to carry on supporting patients and help find a cure for pancreatic cancer. On Saturday, April 27, 2024, our team of family and friends, Carol’s Crusaders & Mariana's Mavericks will team up to participate in the PanCAN PurpleStride walk to end pancreatic cancer.
