Dear Friends,
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Purple Stride Walk will take place Saturday, April 27, 2024.
This year’s Purple Stride marks exactly six years of continuous battle for Marta and all those who have journeyed with her. We thank you from bottom of our hearts!! You keep Marta fighting!!
Marta lives and loves every day to the fullest with family and friends. Marta’s inner and outer strength inspire all of us.
The last year has been a rollercoaster ride for sure. From the high of being a part of the National Institute of Health Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocyte Trial to the low of Trial not working. From the high of being off chemo for many months to the even lower low of returning to the harshest chemo cocktail ever. We are thankful to have had a shot at a cure with the NIH and take comfort in knowing that we advanced scientific research significantly during the immunotherapy trial.
Our nine months in the NIH Trial included surgeries, grueling treatments and 37 incomprehensibly tough days in the NIH hospital in Bethesda this summer. Marta’s immune system was shut down and she was infused with 83.2 billion Lymphocyte cells that had been grown and engineered in the NIH laboratory from her original tumors. In the laboratory the scientists successfully trained the lymphocytes to infiltrate and attack her tumors. Sadly, they did not do so in her body.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.
