IN 2019 CONGRESS FINALLY DETERMINED THAT PANCREATIC CANCER WOULD HAVE IT'S OWN BUCKET OF MONEY IN THE DOD PEER REVIEWED MEDICAL RESEARCH PROGRAM (PRMRP). THIS IS A HIGH RISK HIGH REWARD RESEARCH PROGRAM. PREVIOUSLY PC HAD BEEN LUMPED IN WITH 11 OTHER CANCERS TO SHARE THE MONEY ALLOCATED. IT WAS A BIG VICTORY FOR PANCAN & PANCREATIC CANCER. THE FIRST YEAR THIS PROGRAM RECEIVED $6 MILLION. LAST YEAR CONGRESS APPROVED $10 MILLION. IN 2022 CONGRESS APPROVED $15 MILLION FOR THIS RESEARCH PROGRAM FOR FY23. IN SEPTEMBER THE FULL HOUSE RESPONDED AND THE FY24 DEFENSE APPROPRIATIONS ACT WAS PASSED BY THE HOUSE WITH $20 MILLION DEDICATED TO PANCREATIC CANCER. THIS IS VICTORY THAT TOOK 4 YEARS.
